Places to Play Pickleball in Scottsdale
Pickleball is booming in Scottsdale! Here is a brief run down on the pickleball scene in Scottsdale, Arizona... The City of Scottsdale Parks Department has converted tennis and basketball courts, in three parks, to permanent pickleball courts (19 total courts). Unlike some cities in the Valley of the Sun (see below), Scottsdale has yet to build a large dedicated pickleball complex. The City does not allow court reservations, leagues, or tournaments on the public courts. Only open play is allowed, with the rotation of players when other players are waiting for a court.
Pickleball is a year-round outdoor sport in Scottsdale. Winter is the busy season and most courts will be crowded every morning. Start times are generally 8:00 am during the cooler months and 6:00 am during the hot months. During the hot months the crowds are lighter, but there is still a dedicated group of regulars that play in the early morning, or after dark.
In addition to these parks, there are dozens of private clubs, resorts and neighborhoods that have pickleball courts. Check out the USA Pickleball Association Places to Play.
